Bijan Sheibani is a theatre and opera director.

He was an Associate Director of the National Theatre from 2010-2015. Theatre credits at the National Theatre include Our Class, The Kitchen, A Taste of Honey, Emil and the Detectives, and Romeo and Juliet.

Other theatre credits include Giving (Hampstead), The House of Bernarda Alba (Almeida), Moonlight (Donmar), The Brothers Size (Young Vic / ATC), Gone Too Far! (Royal Court/Hackney Empire/Albany), The Typist (Riverside/Sky Arts), Eurydice (Young Vic), Ghosts (Arcola), Other Hands and Flush (Soho Theatre).

He was nominated for an Olivier Award in 2010 for his production of Our Class, and his productions of Gone Too Far! and The Brothers Size were nominated for Oliviers in 2009. Gone Too Far! won. He was Artistic Director of ATC from 2007-2010. 

He directed the short film Groove is in the Heart, which was selected for the BFI London Film Festival and other international festivals.

Bijan's opera credits include Nothing (Glyndebourne / Danish National Opera), The Virtues of Things and Through His Teeth (Royal Opera House) and Tarantula in Petrol Blue (Aldeburgh). 

Bijan will direct Inua Ellems' new play, The Barber Shop Chronicles, at the National Theatre in 2017.
