Agent: Ariella Feiner
I started working at PFD in 2006 before moving to United Agents and I am now nurturing my own client list which includes many bestselling, critically acclaimed and award winning authors across fiction and non-fiction, including million-copy selling authors and groundbreaking non-fiction. In 2017, The Bookseller named me as a Rising Star.
One of the joys of being a literary agent is the range of books I can work on and I enjoy reading from a wide selection of genres. I want manuscripts which make me sit up and take notice of them, whether it be through beautiful prose, a hugely original idea or, at their best, stories which make me sob.
In fiction do send me crime and psychological thrillers, character-driven stories, reading group books, high-concept tales with a great elevator pitch, novels with magical elements, historical fiction with a twist, and anything, like Room, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time or The Time Traveller's Wife, which breaks the mould. Recent fiction I've loved includes Fierce Kingdom, Black-Eyed Susans, The Roanoke Girls, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and Shtum.
On the non-fiction front, do be in touch with exciting non-fiction such as topics which feel untouched before now or are inspiring and mouth-watering cook book ideas. Recent non-fiction which has moved me enormously includes My Promised Land, Do No Harm, Wild and The Shepherd's Life and on the cookery spectrum I'm a huge fan of Sabrina Ghayour, Nigella Lawson and Yotam Ottolenghi.
For submissions please email a synopsis together with either the first three chapters if it is a novel or a proposal for a non-fiction book directly to me at email@example.com.
